Have you ever felt, like when you are ready to commit to a diet or a lifestyle change, your job can really be your worst enemy?
I’m not sure about you, but at my job, the break room always has some type of sweets that can lead you into a binge fest all day long. Ex: Cookies, Pastries, Crackers, Chips ( my favorite! ) Especially when your job stresses you the eff out! Am i right or am i right!? Lol
And what triggers most people to binge eat, is stress.
So here are 7 tips to prevent binge eating at work:
- Get enough sleep!Studies have shown that when you don’t get enough zzz’s , your hunger hormone (Ghrelin) get all wacky! ( Think of it as the Gremlins movie, they liked to eat all the food)
- Prep your mealsbefore hand for 2-3 days or for the entire week and freeze some of it. So for example, if you made 7 days worth of lunch, leave 3 of the meals refrigerated and the rest freeze them. When you are ready for the other meals, just take them out and put in fridge the day before so they can thaw out.
- Stack your draw with healthy snacksfor when 3pm comes around, you don’t reach for the donuts and cookies in the break room
- Drink water!Sometimes we may think we are hungry but we just thirsty. I know i struggle with my water intake, so i try to aim for one to two glasses of water before lunch and through the day try to drink more. Spruce it up a little and put fruit in your water too!
- Practice mindfulness. When you start to crave something, talk you yourself and ask yourself “ Why am i craving this?” or “What am i feeling?”. Most likely it has something to do with the fact that you are stressed, bored, or didn’t eat enough food throughout the day and your body is lacking nutrients.
- Eat more protein!Studies have also shown that eating high protein diet enhances your metabolism, which in turn suppresses your appetite.
- Up your fiberintake. If you do not eat fruit often, then trying to incorporate a fiber powder. Fiber moves slowly through your digestion tract, helping you feel full.
Binge eating is so common, and many of us experience it. The best thing to do is to acknowledge it and try our best to incorporate some of these tips for overall health. Even just reducing stress levels can do much for binge eating.
I hope you enjoyed these tips, and try them out. I am not 100% on point with all of these because I am human like most of us and sometimes want to eat my bag of chips. Because I LOVE THE CRUNCH! . Lol
